palani temple land issue

The alleged illegal registration of land belonging to the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple/Mutt in Palani has become a major political and legal controversy in Dindigul district. The disputed property is reported to measure about 1.40 acres and is valued at around ₹100 crore. Investigators allege that the land was registered in favour of private individuals using forged documents despite objections and legal restrictions.Following the complaint from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the investigation was transferred to the CB-CID. Officials conducted searches at several locations in Dindigul, Palani and other districts and examined records connected with the alleged registration. Several people have been arrested in connection with the case, including the suspended Palani Sub-Registrar, while the investigation continues. The matter has also taken a political turn, with opposition leaders and other political figures demanding a CBI investigation and raising questions about the handling of temple property. The Madras High Court recently declined to transfer the investigation to the CBI, noting that the CB-CID investigation was progressing. The case continues to attract attention across Dindigul district.
