Palani Dhandayudhapani Temple
Palani Dhandayudhapani Temple, officially known as Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, is one of the most important Murugan temples in Tamil Nadu. Located on Sivagiri Hill in Palani, Dindigul district, it is one of the six celebrated abodes of Lord Murugan, traditionally known as the Arupadai Veedu. The hill temple attracts large numbers of devotees throughout the year, especially during major religious festivals.
The presiding deity is Lord Murugan in the form of Dhandayudhapani, depicted as a youthful ascetic carrying a staff. According to temple tradition, the idol is associated with the Siddhar Bogar and is believed to have been created using navapashanam, a traditional formulation described as a combination of nine substances. A shrine dedicated to Bogar is also located within the temple complex.
